Donovan Kehlar
He was a tall and slender man. His long legs equipped with red wing boots that have seen more country than you could dream of. I was immediately captured by the genuineness of his heart and his wooden bow. I felt in this moment that I was photographing a modern day Fred Bear. I was photographing something that was a way of life, something that was dead and gone, but something alive in spirit. He shot a long bow. He built his own wooden shafts, and he even cut his own fletchings using a turkey feathers. As I watched him concentrate on each shot, I noticed his impeccable focus. He would quite down before each shot and stare a hole through his target. Without a wince he would draw and fire and hit true. He told me that the most important thing about traditional archery is focus.
